Web 2.0 Tools that I find cool: I used this for presenting my case study. I intended to use Glogster, but discovered that you have to pay for that service. Then I searched, "alternatives to Glogster" and found Thinglink! It's cool because you can upload an image (or collage) and add features the image such as play buttons, texts, links, etc. I uploaded a play button that links to the original video of the lesson I selected, and also added audio buttons to record my review in sections. The free version produces a smaller sized image, while the paid version is full size.
I need to do a lot of presentations in my role as academic specialist, so I decided to check out slides.com. I usually use Google Slides and am able to accomplish just about anything I set out to do. However, I really like the look of slides.com, and it is super user friendly. I was able to fool around with some cool features that I normally wouldn't try out in Google Slides. The edit mode tools are all up front for you to play with and there are many cute customizations to the layout, designs, and colors to play with. Here's my silly little 3 slide deck that I played around with, "How to Brush Your Teeth".
Wow, this is a very cool tool! You can use it to bookmark sites, articles, PDFs, images--and even annotate them! You can share these articles and your notes about them with groups of people. Sounds totally perfect for teachers! There's also a really cool feature that shows you the trending bookmarked items. I happened to click on one and land on a gold mine: a neat little article about "chat stations" that I think could be a great idea for ELD students to get them talking. After reading that article, I scrolled down and found several more ideas for similar articles at the bottom of the page. I ended up bookmarking a few articles and tried out the annotation process. I still have lots of playing to do on this one! I also am super interested in trying to get my colleagues going on it and sharing cool things! Here's a link to my tiny ELD "Outliner" collection. Here is a link to my account, should you want to check out my bookmarks!
